Who would have thought it, but it seems that the simple act of writing down the things you have to do is an effective way of getting a good night’s sleep.

Researchers at Baylor University published a study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology  showing that writing down a “To Do” list is an effective way of falling asleep sooner.

The idea is that instead of worrying about all the things you have to do, the simple act of writing it down allows you to offload problems or anxieties to the printed page;  thus freeing the mind of worries leading to a better night’s sleep.

When coupled with other research showing how mobile phones and other gadgetry impair sleep patterns, it seems that there is yet another reason to take up pen and paper to promote a healthier lifetyle.
